Just D'lishous!

Yes I do know how to spell, we had breakfast at D'Lish Urban Kitchen and Wine Bar. No, not her normal time of day to be open but we had begged a booking for the GoSmallBiz Networking breakfast and it was wonderful. Truly Jennifer could not do enough for us. When we arrived to set up a little before 7am her pastry chef was already there, and the aroma of fresh baked cinnamon buns was drifting from the kitchen. By the time our guests started to filter in, fresh coffee and juice were ready and on the counter. We made this a serve yourself morning and soon we were diving into yoghurt and fruit parfaits. There were fresh fruit skewers with cubes of peach, apple pear and the truly the largest blackberries I have ever seen. The tray of toasted bagels looked tempting and although I didn't sample I understand the cream cheese spread that accompanyed those was wonderful. But back to those cinnamon buns. They were fabulous. I am not normally a huge fan because most are really too heavy with sugar, thick, sticky and way too much icing sugar. Never mind that they are also usually huge. These were none of that. In fact several of our guests grabbed paper napkins from the bar to take a couple back to the office to 'share'. The decor inside D'Lish is gorgeous. The closed front draperies gave a softness to the morning sun that was pouring in, gently reflected in the tiny circles of mirror tile on the wall and the sparkling glass ball chandelier. The combination of caramel coloured highbacked banquette seating and black contempory dining chairs is beautiful. The whole place glows and sparkles with light. Athough we moved tables and chairs around for our purposes you could still feel the elegance of the decor. One guest commented that this was exactly what she would love to have in her home and everyone agreed it was a beautiful event and they would be back to sample the menu. Jennifer asked that we invite everyone to check out their website taking special note of their Events section as improv comes to D'Lish. Improv enters the social media world! #YEGprov You probably saw them at the Fringe and now you get to see them again at D'Lish. Bring your smartphone, and keep it turned ON! For all the info, go to their website:
